Music video by Jay-Z & Kanye West performing No Church In The Wild feat. Frank Ocean & The-Dream. © 2012 Roc-A-Fella Records, LLC

Kanye and Jay aren’t in the video, it is basically a lot of staged anarchy between police, Frank Ocean (who sings the hook of the song) and an army of fearless protesters. They throw moltov cocktails, along with lasers and fireworks, and an elephant is confused as to why he is there. There is nothing in the video that directly details a specific storyline or plot; instead, viewers are expected to rely on their own interpretations of the scenes that look like they’re taken straight from a news channel. Still, it was produced by Romain Gavras who directed M.I.A’s controversial ‘Born Free‘ video and her last single, ‘Bad Girls‘. Kanye often cites M.I.A as his inspiration and this video is definitely in her style of expression. I would have liked to see Steven Klein’s take on this song, because the song reminds me of his style of photography. This is one of my favourite songs from ‘Watch The Throne‘, it’s such a solid track and possibly the most talked about.
